Up at cottages going some work in preparation for Visit Scotland's grading visit in 2 weeks. Yesterday morning was a cold start but it brightened up later, great scenery.
We started in March with improvements to Heather cottage, with new Oak furniture in the bedrooms plus new mattresses too, see earlier posts. In May we replaced the sofa-bed in Heather too. Despite the time of year, at the end of October it was almost a summer's day with the weather. Plus we had daily visitors as company for breakfast.
We had a very busy year with bookings plus some a busy year for the family with graduations of our two daughters with their degrees, travelling up and down the country. So not as much time spent up at the cottages as we would have liked. So time now to catch up on Testimonials and [...]
Last year, in mid-June we blogged that there were 10 weeks of vacancies left during the peak season (June, July and August). Now at almost mid-March, we only have 12 weeks of vacancies left during the peak season: 3 to 10 June - Heather and Fern 10 to 17 June - Fern only 17 to 24 [...]
Spent the last few days checking things over for upcoming season. Annual Fire Safety checks done, a few odd repairs. Some new lighting, new fridge and new bedroom furniture for one cottage, some new garden furniture for the other cottage. As well as admiring the views in the various weather conditions. With such good weather last week, it was as shame not to take the opportunity to climb a nearby Munro. Taking my eldest daughter along, we drove up the road for about 20 minutes to Ballachulish - just before Glencoe village. Then walked up Sgorr Bhan and then munro Sgorr Dhearg.
