A new boiler system and oil storage tank fitted during the middle of last month, preparing for Winter. Some nice views for one day whilst visiting.
Some pictures from a recent working visit. Some painting and general tidy up. The sheep in the field at the back of the cottage have started lambing this last week. Local wild birds visiting too. The cottages have now both been equipped with 60/40 Fridge-freezers, replacing the fridges with small ice boxes. Already equipped with washing machines and dishwashers, there's no room left for any other major kitchen appliances. So we've no made part of the barn into a utility room that guest can use, fitted with a new 10kg tumble dryer.
Up at cottages going some work in preparation for Visit Scotland's grading visit in 2 weeks. Yesterday morning was a cold start but it brightened up later, great scenery.
This time last year, we only had about 3-5 bookings for the peak summer periods. We’re obviously doing something right, we’re getting returning guests and lots of new ones, 13 bookings over same season currently, with others outside these dates. More people booking early. Travelling up to the cottage Saturday night (18th Nov 17), to do some maintenance work and awaiting delivery of new tumble dryer and fridge/freezers (replacing the old fridges). Hope the weather stays reasonable so we can do some painting and wood protection work outside.
We started in March with improvements to Heather cottage, with new Oak furniture in the bedrooms plus new mattresses too, see earlier posts. In May we replaced the sofa-bed in Heather too. Despite the time of year, at the end of October it was almost a summer's day with the weather. Plus we had daily visitors as company for breakfast.
